You’re in the car, enjoying the scenic drive to Ely, MN. You wind through the roads of pine trees and find your way to the Tower Soudan Mine. You stop in with your family and grab tickets at the front desk. You are enjoying exploring the artifacts and the video, and get to learn a ton about the history of the place you’re super excited to explore. It’s all together fascinating, intriguing, and sobering. Then you get to the tour, and get in the elevator to go thousands of feet beneath the surface. Now it’s real, you’re in the mines seeing where people did important work so many years ago. There’s beautiful rocks and cool artifacts everywhere, plus a train car going through the mine. What a ride! You get a few pictures with the “2341 feet below the surface” sign. You travel all the way back up and head on your way to the next stop.
Next stop, downtown Ely, a beautiful, fun, northern town, where you can enjoy a yummy lunch before walking through the shops and enjoying the small town atmosphere.
That evening, after a lovely dinner, you enjoy the drive down the road to the resort, it’s on a lakeside property, and your cabin has the perfect view. You settle down for a great night’s rest.
You wake up the next morning to the sound of birds on the lake. You enjoy a wonderful homestyle breakfast from your cabin and get ready for a beautiful day. You get a state park pass and start your adventure by renting a canoe. You push off the edge of the lake and wind across the beautiful water, you get to shore, and after sitting on the beach eating a yummy trail lunch, you portage your canoe to the next lake, enjoying more waterside stops to relax. You grab some beautiful pictures for your memories to enjoy.
After a beautiful day of paddlinhg, you make your way back to the rental office and make your way into town for a well-deserved, filling dinner, before heading back to the resort for another restful night.
The next morning, you enjoy a beautiful sunrise from your cabin’s sitting room, and then decide to start the beautiful drive back.
Another beautiful weekend at a Minnesota Resort.
