Activities in Southern Minnesota

We took a trip to south eastern Minnesota recently and discovered many activities.  If you like exploring state parks you will find several including Forestville / Mystery Cave State Park and Great River Bluffs State Park among a dozen others.  If you like explore caves you can visit Niagara Cave,  The cave is open 7 days a week through October 31, rain or shine and is a constant 48 degrees Fahrenheit.  It features include an underground stream, with a 60-foot waterfall, fossils, stalactites and stalagmites.  If you like riding bicycles you will enjoy the Root River Bike Trail.  This trail connects the towns of Fountain, Preston, Harmony, Lanesboro, Whalan, Peterson, Rushford, and Houston.  We enjoyed the rolling farm land, and the quiet meandering rivers, the quant shops and small town friendliness.
